Experiences of Teaching Real-Time Systems to Control Engineers

Karl-Erik Årzén, Lund University

Abstract:

Contrary to most universities at Lund University it is the control department who is responsible for the teaching about real-time systems. The current course covers concurrent programming, real-time scheduling, sampled control theory and implementation issues of control systems, the latter in project form. The course is given for around 80 students each year with a mixed background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics, and Mechanical Engineering; most of them specializing in Control Engineering/Theory. In the presentation the experience of giving this course will be given as well as some thoughts on how such a course could be developed in a MBSE direction.
